Megan’s story
Hi, my name is Meg. I will be undertaking 3 months in Gorkha. I will be based in schools to use my skills as a primary school teacher. This will be helping to introduce the new curriculum and to support the teachers in the delivery of the curriculum. The Gorkha Development Scheme (GDS) have helped fund many children’s education over the years and have provided education for the teachers as well to further understanding. The charity have always worked with local people to support the poorest in the community. They focus on health, education, women, community and volunteers.
Any donations made go straight to the charity and then are distributed to the areas that it is most needed. The money has helped buy paper and pencils for schools as well as paint to decorate. Recently the charity ran a health group for women to attend which was greatly received.
During my time in Gorkha I will be living and working within the local community and immersing myself within the culture of this fantastic and mesmerising place. To follow my journey and also other projects have been completed previously by GDS follow their instagram page (gds.Nepal).
