Jenny’s story
On 19th July, our team, The Dragonesses, will be taking on the Kingston Dragon Boat Challenge and we would love your support.
None of us are experienced dragon boat racers, in fact most of us are completely new to it, so this will be a real challenge. There will no doubt be sore arms, questionable coordination and plenty of nervous energy, but we are doing it for a special cause.
We are raising money for JAR, supporting research into juvenile arthritis.
In 2021, my daughter was diagnosed with systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis, SJIA. Since then, she has been through an incredibly difficult journey involving hospital stays, ongoing treatment and regular appointments. Even now, she still attends hospital every other week for treatment and will likely have to manage this condition throughout her life.
Despite everything she has faced, she continues to amaze me with her determination, resilience and positivity. She throws herself into life and inspires me every single day. Watching her face challenges with such courage is one of the reasons we wanted to do something that to pushes us outside of our own comfort zone.
Children’s charities and childhood conditions often receive far less attention and funding than they deserve. We hope that by taking on this challenge we can raise awareness as well as vital funds for research and support.
Every donation, large or small, will genuinely make a difference and mean so much to our team.
Thank you for supporting The Dragonesses and cheering us on as we take to the Thames!
