Thomas’s story
I'm doing a sponsored swim alongside some brave parents, teachers and school staff on Sunday 17th December at Brockwell Lido to raise money for our school. The money will go towards things like fruit for every child, books, school theatre and cinema trips, playground equipment and even agricultural equipment so the school can start growing more of its own produce. It's a big, brilliant, diverse South London school and provides an excellent education for the children in our community but with huge funding cuts and the cost of living crisis, it's the extra bits they can't always promise to provide and we don't want any child to miss out on those.
Cold water swimming is not something I've ever done before, so this will be my first experience. We're getting into a pool that will be approximately 9 degrees and swimming as many lengths as we can - which for me, I'm guessing, won't be many - I'll have to channel my inner Wim Hof...
I know some find this an incredibly easy thing to do, but I think for me it will be a challenge, as well as a fantastic way to raise funds to support all the great work Woodmansterne School is already doing to give our students the best possible preparation for life.
