Rob’s story
Hello, I am pleased to announce that FTE (Free Trauma Energy/Fireman's Tired Eyes) along with Firefighters from Portugal (Bombeiros) are cycling from Porto to Lisbon, approx 365km in 2 days.
Not only to raise awareness of PTSD and mental health but also to raise funds for charities.
Having been in a dark place myself after retiring from service, I am compelled to continue helping others. Now I am the author of 3 books, with the proceeds being donated to charity, and a 4th book is being written as a self-help guidebook for everyone, and not just for service personnel.
Sadly as we all know, Mental Health has no boundaries.
Having studied PTSD, CBT, REBT, Depression and Anxiety, Trauma Informed Somatic Exercises, Qi Gong, Meditation, and Breathwork, all since leaving the service, I have a much clearer understanding and awareness of the thoughts and feelings I was experiencing. Using exercise to Free Trauma Energy and to change my physical and mental health has been hard work and something I have had to do daily and be consistent with. However, I like to lead by example and we don't all have to cycle or run, but I hope it encourages you to take action and achieve your goals.
Supporting and encouraging each other is a powerful tool.
It has been an emotional and challenging 5 years since retiring, living in France, and now currently in Portugal. Who knows where next? And making connections and friends along the way.
Maintaining a positive outlook and a drive to help and learn has allowed me to grow and evolve.
Positivity is infectious.
Last year's Algarve challenge was very successful, bringing Firefighters from the UK, and doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation together, with support from local bike shops and Physio's, raising just over £1000 for each charity. These were Alerta, (Firefighters in the Algarve) known as Bombeiros, and The Firefighters Charity in the UK. This was the eastern border to the west coast in the Algarve,176km in 1 day.
This year, continuing to help Firefighters, I wish to support Serve On and their amazing team of volunteers that respond to international disasters.
Plus doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation and their Action Club, on this occasion are raising funds for Incubators in Syria.
Please show your support and add as little or as much as you want to, knowing that your kindness is felt around the world.
We all contribute to helping in varying ways.
Changes take time. Imagine where you could be in 365 days' time after continuing to make progress.
