Abby’s story
Help us get Beatrix the treatment she needs for a better life ahead.
On behalf of Feline Rescue I am raising £1500 to help cover the cost of treatment for a young, suffering kitten who has recently come into their care.
Beatrix is no older than 12 weeks and was found dumped in a box behind a nursery with her siblings. She was unable to run when approached, unlike her siblings who made a run for it, as she could not use her back legs. We have set some traps in hopes of catching them too. Understandably they were all terrified and we can only speculate what their life has been like so far.
After seeing the vet we were able to get a clearer picture of her injuries. She was covered in puncture wounds and maggots, which resulted from fly strike. These wounds are consistent with a dog or fox having her in its mouth. She also has some nerve damage in her spine which is affecting her back legs and her ability to go to the toilet on her own. Luckily there is no need for amputation as she has deep pain reaction in her back legs.
As Feline Rescue is a small charity, that runs off of donations, we are often limited when it comes to the treatment of badly injured cats. Especially in situations like this. After her first trip to the vets her bill is already at £450 for x-rays, pain relief and fly strike treatment. With many more vet trips guaranteed for essential treatment, her bill will be up to 10 times this.
I have been volunteering at Feline Rescue for many years and have watched the team do an amazing job rescuing cats in need. If you would like to support us and help out on our mission to rehabilitate Beatrix, please consider donating and sharing with others. Any support is appreciated even if you are only able to share our fundraiser. Any money raised that exceeds our target will continue to go towards her bill, once covered it will go towards the charity and the other cats in their care.
Thank you all for your support, it is greatly appreciated!
