LS29’s story
In 2026, LS29 Special Needs Support Group will be celebrating 20 years of supporting children, young people and families with additional needs across Ilkley, Wharfedale and the surrounding areas.
To mark this milestone, we’re hosting a 20th Anniversary Festival on Saturday 25th April 2026 at Nell Bank Outdoor Activity Centre, Ilkley - a joyful, fully accessible and inclusive day for our members past, present and future.
This festival isn’t just a party. For many of the families we support, events and activities like this are the only time they feel fully included, fully understood, and able to relax and enjoy time together without barriers.
What we’re fundraising for:-
We are aiming to raise £5,000 to help cover the costs of making this festival accessible to everyone. Your donation will help fund:
- Live musicians and performers
- Inclusive sports and activity zones
- Sensory and calm spaces
- Children’s and youth entertainment
- Arts & Crafts, drumming and dance
- Inflatables and adventure play
Why this matters
LS29 started as a small group of parents who were feeling isolated and unsure where to turn. Twenty years on, we now support over 200 local families, offering inclusive activities, day trips, youth sessions, short breaks and parent/carer support.
The need for what we do continues to grow — and this festival gives us a unique opportunity to:
- Bring families together who often feel excluded from community events
- Reduce isolation and help families build friendships and peer support
- Raise awareness of LS29 so more families know support is available
- Celebrate our community, our members and 20 years of shared memories
