Joshua and Melissa’s story
Traditionally, couples who are getting married write a gift list of things they need to start a life together! But we're fortunate to already have everything we need between us - and very aware that many people in our city don't have the basic privilege of a safe, stable home. As an alternative to giving us a gift, we invite you to donate to Edge Housing on our behalf.
Melissa had the opportunity to visit one of the very first Edge houses just before it opened, and has been an enthusiastic supporter ever since, having seen firsthand the difference this approach makes to people’s lives.
Edge Housing offers hope, homes and a future to people experiencing homelessness in Oxford. They provide safe accommodation and tailored support to around 45 residents at any one time, including specialist spaces for those in recovery and for people without access to benefits.
Their work goes far beyond simply providing a place to stay, and invest significant time and care into empowering residents to grow in confidence, move towards recovery, and ultimately transition into independent living. Importantly, this support doesn't stop after someone moves on - Edge continues to provide support for as long as it's needed.
