Terry’s story
Hello all and thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
I'll be racing the tour divide scheduled for June and July of this year. The Tour Divide stands as the longest and arguably most arduous mountain bike time trial worldwide. It poses a formidable challenge even for the most ultra-fit individuals. From the extensive research I've conducted, it appears that this race has never been attempted, let alone completed, by an amputee. Spanning 2,740 miles, the Tour Divide is a self-supported bike race commencing from Banff in Canada and culminating at Antelope Wells on the Mexican border, encompassing nearly 200,000 feet of accumulated ascent.
On August 13th, 2008, during my service with the Parachute regiment in Afghanistan. I stood on a pressure pad improvised explosive device which led to the amputation of my right leg and the degloving of my right hand. Initially, support our Para's provided invaluable assistance during my rehabilitation. subsequently, in 2013, I joined the adaptive grandslam, a journey I have remained committed to ever since. My aspiration in undertaking this challenge is to serve as an inspiration to others facing similar adversities, demonstrating that resilience and determination can triumph over seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
I have personally contributed £7000 financing this challenge, and I am committed to ensuring that all funds raised will be directly allocated to the charities that have greatly supported me in the past.
