Debbie and Richard’s story
We are both going to abseil off the Mittal Tower this October. The tower is the 114.5m high sculpture in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, London. I (Debbie) used to be a bit of a dare devil but as I have gotten more mature - heights are a bit of a challenge for me - so pushing myself off this will be very scary! Richard is slightly braver and will no doubt give me a push if I need one!
Why are we doing this? Well 12 years ago one of our dear friends set up the charity Legasee Educational Trust. Like everyone we wish that there was no conflict and war in our world. But sadly as history and recent events in Ukraine has shown we do need brave men and women to defend us.
Many of our brave veterans that have defended liberty in past conflicts such as World War I and II have already passed away and with them their inspirational stories. The Legasee charity mission is to ensure as many of the stories and experiences of our brave veterans are recorded and can be shared for forever through the charities' website and with museums, schools and other educational institutions.
We will be very grateful for any support you can give - no matter how small. Thank you very much.
