georgia’s story
I will be taking part in the Bristol fight night on November 21st, following 8 weeks of boxing training, in order to raise money for the Transplant Games and Recreational Fund. This is a charity that allows renal transplant patients from Great Ormond Street Hospital to take part in the annual British Transplant Games, a four day sporting event, with over 500 competitors and thousands of supporters.
The Games aim to promote activity for transplant patients; raise awareness of the life changing impact of organ donation; and give an opportunity for patients, donor families, and living donors to connect and support one another through times that are difficult to navigate.
TGRF provides the children with tracksuits and t-shirts free of charge and subsidises the cost for families attending over the four days.
Organ donation is a topic close to mine and my family’s hearts and something that I am passionate about. My cousin James sadly died last year at the age of 27. Through multiple organ donation, James’ death has made a huge impact on people’s lives, something that gives great comfort to James’ parents, siblings, and wider family.
TGRF was brought to my attention by my friend Lily, whose mum Maria is a renal transplant coordinator at Great Ormond Street Hospital. With your donations, we will be able to make a huge impact to the children and families that Maria and her team care for.
