Kevin’s story

KDCC was formed in 1974 and has operated on behalf of the people of Keyworth and its surrounding area for in excess of 49 years. Having operated as a Trust for many years, KDCC converted to a registered charity (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) in 2016. The Charity has no paid employees - all involved are volunteers. The objectives of KDCC are: To relieve the needs of elderly people in Keyworth and the surrounding area by the provision of a Day Centre facility, including the provision of a hot meal, the provision of recreational and leisure time activities provided in the interest of social welfare, designed to improve their condition of life. To provide a community transport service for the inhabitants of Keyworth and the surrounding area who are in need of such a service because of age, sickness or disability (mental or physical) or poverty, or because of lack of availability of adequate and safe public passenger services. The KDCC community bus provides transport to / from our Day Centre, transport to / from local shops, transport to / from a local Friendship Group run by WRVS, transport to / from a local ‘Warm Space’ initiative. The KDCC community bus has wheelchair access. The KDCC community bus is also used by many other local registered user groups, including Youth Groups, WI Groups, small local schools, and many others. KDCC is a small local charity, doing great work in the local community, and is well deserving of support.
