Rob’s story
The real heroes in this challenge are Rob Compton and friends who are keen cyclists, but wanted to support FOYCS by doing something different. This IS different, AND challenging to all of them.
In the 6th month of the year - June - they will ride for 6 hours in one day.
In the 7th month of the year - July - they will ride for 7 hours in one day.
In the 8th month of the year - August - they will ride for 8 hours in one day.
In the 9th month of the year - September - they will ride for 9 hours in one day.
In the 10th month of the year - October - they will ride for 10 hours in one day!!!
This fundraising site (Wonderful.org) is free to use, and FOYCS is run purely by volunteers, so all the money raised will go directly to the charity.
FOYCS is a charitable trust that helps children and young people between the ages of 5-17 years to have a break from their caring duties. Young carers look after someone in their family home who has an illness, physical or learning disability, a mental health illness or misuses drugs or alcohol. They take on the practical and/or emotional caring responsibilities normally expected of an adult. Because of this they tend to miss out on the simple, enjoyable experiences that most children take for granted. FOYCS will fund much needed breaks or support to these young carers.
