Lucy’s story
I am taking part in the Swim Serpentine Challenge to swim a mile on the 14th September! The temperature of the water has now dropped a bit and it will be a chilly one! Please donate what you can to get me round! Every small donation will help my chosen charity.
I am raising money for a charity that is close to her heart. 2 years ago a close friend’s life suddenly changed forever. Age 37 with her own family she has been diagnosed with an in-operable AVM. Treatment has taken place but there is no cure for AVM’s if they are unable to take them out of the brain.
She has found The Butterfly AVM Charity the first specific AVM charity in the UK along her journey of living with her AVM. The charity has been a lifeline to her and her family.
This is a small charity that makes a big difference to people living with AVM’s. I feel passionate about raising some funds for them so they can continue the work and research they put into finding a cure for AVM survivors.
RESEARCH – AWARENESS – SUPPORT
Together we can make a change, build awareness, support and raise funds for much needed research into the understanding of facial, extremity and brain AVMs.
Due to the rarity of AVMs in the population and lack of funding, the advancements required to enable doctors and surgeons to increase the success rate of treatments has been slow. Our Charity was created with a dream to redress this by providing directional funding to Research institutions in the hope that definitive treatments are discovered.
