Rory’s story
This is a sponsored walking event.
The North Face of the Eiger in Switzerland rises 1800 metres tall and is one of the most famous climbing routes in the world.
Participants will walk from Newsome Scout HQ (Base Camp) to Castle Hill (Summit) and back , working in teams to build up the total height of 1800 metres. One round trip equals part of the climb and every lap counts towards the total!.
The Explorer Group will need to do 9 laps or more to complete their challenge.
Why Climb the Eiger?
This summer, the Explorer Scouts are travelling to Kandersteg, Switzerland for 11 days of Scouting adventure, challenge and international friendship. Their planned activities is expected to include walking from Kleine Scheidegg to Grindelwald, just below the North Face of the Eiger itself!
