VAEF’s story
All households this year will receive a One-off £400 energy grant. This payment is for everyone despite income and need.
Do you need this grant or would you like to donate it to a vulnerable person / family?
As the cold weather sets in, there are thousands of households in Epping Forest that are living in fuel poverty. Voluntary Action Epping Forest have been operating a Winter Warmth scheme for a number of years where we assist agency referred individuals and families who are vulnerable and in need, to keep warm during the winter.
This support may consist of food boxes, contributions to their fuel, warm clothing and bedding, small heating appliances or essential household items which many of us take for granted, such as hot water bottles and warm blankets.
Our budget to support these people is small and with the expected price rises we are all experiencing, the vulnerable individuals and families are likely to feel this cost of living crisis the most and our current budget won’t allow us to support everyone.
VAEF are asking for your support to provide as much help to these people as possible. Together we could make a huge difference to the lives of many this winter as, while this energy grant will help ease the strain for a lot of households, it won't cover the full cost of energy price rises for many.
The £400 energy grant will be rolled out in six instalments from October 2022 with households seeing £66 knocked off their energy bills in October and November, and £67 a month from December to March 2023.
If you would like to donate to VAEF's Winter Energy Donation Scheme to enhance the Winter Warmth service that we provide between October and March each year, you can do so by choosing to contribute to our funds which will all be used to support vulnerable individuals and families. VAEF work with community and statutory organisations across the District who refer in to us and 100% of donations will be used to benefit those most in need.
It could be that you choose to donate £10, maybe even 1 instalment of £66 or if budgets allow, you may choose to donate your full energy grant of £400. Any amount donated will help ease someone’s strain this winter and we very much value your support.
Examples of assistance could be:
£25 could assist an individual with a small grocery shop for a week
£50 could help towards a families rising fuel bill for a week
£100 could help a family with fuel and groceries for a week
£400 could help several families with their fuel and grocery costs
Any form of support is greatly appreciated.
We hope to keep as many people as possible warm and well this winter.
Together we can make a difference!
