Alex’s story
I will be running a marathon around the Radcliffe Camera in Oxford city centre whilst wearing (almost) full academic dress/sub-fusc to raise money for the charity Wychumvi. This run will begin at 5:30am on Sunday 8th Oct 2023.
“Wychumvi developed from the relationship between two globally linked schools; Wyche C.E. Primary School in Malvern, UK and Gofu Juu school in Tanga, Tanzania. The charity seeks to provide a hot meal for every child at Gofu Juu every school day. This has benefitted children physically in terms of nutrition and health and has had a knock-on effect in terms of school attendance and, therefore, improved overall levels of academic attainment. Wychumvi currently provides over 600 meals a day for the children at Gofu Juu. The charity also established a programme whereby individuals in the UK sponsor a child to attend Secondary School, and where required on to High School and through University. The Charity has sponsored over 90 children in this way in the past ten years.”
