Tom’s story
Hi everyone!
Tom here :-)
I'm going on a long walk. Well, a walk and a sail to be honest. Starting by walking up through the Outer Hebrides, I then walk up through northern Scotland, sail across to Shetland, sail across to Norway, walk across Southern Norway to Oslo, then sail to Denmark. 2 months. Phew.
The walk is a kind of personal pilgrimage. I'm carrying a vast piece of fabric with a list of 44,000 threatened species printed on it, to raise awareness about issues around biodiversity loss and what's happening on the planet right now - https://www.iucnredlist.org/. Secondly, I wanted to mark the point of coming through cancer for the second time, with a long walk into health and life and nature. This will be raising money for a place and cause that's close to my heart - Flynne's Barn, an incredible centre in the Lake District where young people experiencing cancer treatment can have space to process what they're going through. - https://www.flynnesbarn.org/
I hope to be posting regular updates and images about my walk, and some of the things I encounter. Please see here for the journey blog, with pics and a bit of writing - https://journeyofalosthuntergatherer.wordpress.com/
Please do pop a coin in the box if you like what you see. Big love :-) xxx
